Welcome to a new series on Managing Madrid: Highlight packages and player comps! Real Madrid’s aggressive press from earlier this season seems like a forgotten past. While the team has struggled with intensity since the start of November, it is strange to believe it in some way, because there were no problems of ‘intensity’ prior to that. Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid were aggressive and pressing with cohesion.

If anything, it was expected that the press and effort would improve rather than regress.
