The Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga spent the summer locked in a contractual stalemate. The explosive forward reportedly spent some time exploring his options, which also involved speaking with other teams around the NBA. The Sacramento Kings were among the teams listed as having a genuine interest in adding him to their rotation.
Now, as the Feb. 5 trade deadline inches closer, Kuminga once again finds his name being floated in trade discussions. And, according to The Athletic's Sam Amick, the Kings are still one of the more interested parties in a potential deal to take Kuminga away from the Bay Area. However, Amick did note that reaching an agreement may be tricky.
"For one, the Kings and everyone else, the price has gone down, it just has," Amick said. "So what does that look like in a possible Kings deal, because the Warriors are known to not have interest in Malik Monk, and he was front and center in those discussions in the offseason. So is it a [DeMar DeRozan] thing potentially? Who knows? I don't probably see that happening."
Kuminga's future has been a hot topic for months. He's struggled to maintain an important role within the Warriors' rotation this season, primarily due to his skillset being a clunky fit with how Kerr likes the team to play. Sacramento is unlikely to be the only team that registers its interest in a potential trade.

However, as Golden State has shown previously, they will only sanction a deal if the return makes sense and improves the current roster. As such, we may be in store for another drawn-out saga before finding out what's next for the former seventh overall draft pick.
