As the holiday break comes to a close, athletes throughout the Eugene-Springfield area have continued to deliver outstanding performances.

This week's nominees for The Register-Guard boys Athlete of the Week are:

Colton Boresek, Marist Catholic basketball
Landon Cramer, Thurston wrestling
Elijah Gabriel, South Eugene basketball
Kai Gallic, Sheldon basketball
Gaven Grover, Elmira basketball
Ryan Gutierrez, Churchill basketball
Damon Keith, North Eugene basketball
Lucas LaBounty, Thurston basketball

Information about each nominee is listed below. Vote for the athlete you think is most deserving at registerguard.com/sports. The poll closes at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Colton Boresek, Marist Catholic basketball

Marist Catholic junior Colton Boresek scored a team-high 15 points Dec. 31 to lead the Spartans to a 55-53 home win over Cascade.

Landon Cramer, Thurston wrestling

Thurston junior Landon Cramer won his 285-pound championship bout by fall over Newberg's Liam Alexander on Dec. 30 to help the Colts complete a 44-18 team win over the Tigers at the NW Dual Tournament at the Linn County fairgrounds in Albany.

Elijah Gabriel, South Eugene basketball

South Eugene junior Elijah Gabriel scored a team-high 25 points Dec. 28 in a 72-65 loss to Redmond at the Summit Holiday Tournament in Bend.

The next day, Gabriel scored 26 points in a 73-69 win over La Salle.

Kai Gallic, Sheldon basketball

Sheldon senior guard Kai Gallic scored 18 points and racked up seven steals Dec. 27 to lead the Irish to a 54-49 win over Sitka (Alaska) at the Cochrane Classic in Ketchikan, Alaska.

The next day, in a 62-51 win over Dimond (Alaska), Gallic scored 15 points.

Sheldon guard Kai Gallic goes up for a shot against Thurston in a Dec. 6 game at McArthur Court. Gallic is a nominee for Register-Guard boys Athlete of the Week.

Gaven Grover, Elmira basketball

Elmira senior Gaven Grover scored a team-high 19 points and went 5 of 9 from 3-point range Jan. 1 to lead the Falcons to a 71-52 win over Brookings-Harbor at the Bandon Dunes Tournament.

Ryan Gutierrez, Churchill basketball

Churchill senior Ryan Gutierrez scored a team-high 31 points Dec. 30 to lead the Lancers to a 56-39 win over Newberg at the Summit Holiday Tournament in Bend.

Damon Keith, North Eugene basketball

North Eugene sophomore Damon Keith scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds Dec. 29 to help the Highlanders to a 64-33 home win over Crescent Valley.

Lucas LaBounty, Thurston basketball

Thurston senior Lucas LaBounty scored a team-high 28 points Dec. 27 to lead the Colts to a 74-65 win over North Medford at the Abby's Holiday Classic in Medford.

One day later, in a 62-27 win over Grants Pass, LaBounty led the Colts with 22 points.
