Here are this week's nominees for The Arizona Republic's boys’ and girls’ athletes of the week for Dec. 29-Jan. 3, sponsored by Diamond Kitchen & Bath. Nominees are based on performances in AIA-sanctioned sports. Vote for the top selection in each of our polls below. Voting will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, and winners will be announced the next day on azcentral.com and in The Arizona Republic on Saturday, Jan. 10. Girls

Nemo Sidhu, Goodyear Estrella Foothills, basketball, Jr.: At the Wolves Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament in Goodyear, she had 24 points, six steals and four rebounds in a win against Phoenix Barry Goldwater and 33 points, 12 steals, seven rebounds and five assists in a win against El Mirage Dysart on Dec. 29; and 31 points, nine steals and seven rebounds in a win against Phoenix Bourgade Catholic, 18 points and five rebounds in a win against Surprise Willow Canyon and 15 points and four steals in a win against Buckeye Odyssey Institute on Dec. 30.

Chloe Graham, Phoenix Northwest Christian, soccer, Jr.: She had one goal and one assist in a 2-0 win over Cottonwood Mingus Union on Jan. 2, three goals and one assist in a 6-2 win over Mesa Eastmark on Jan. 3 and one goal in a 1-1 shootout win against Mesa Red Mountain on Jan. 3 at the Bohdie Larson Celebration Classic in Mesa.

Rylie Brisco, Kingman Academy, soccer, Jr.: She had 3 goals in a 5-1 win over Gilbert Arete Prep on Jan. 3.

Boys

Darius Wabbington, Sunnyslope, basketball, Jr.: He averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds, being named the MVP of the Hoophall West traditional bracket. He made the winning free throws with 14 seconds left to hold off Wheeler (Georgia) 61-59 in the championship game.

Javier Valle, Glendale Ironwood, soccer, Sr.: He had two goals in a 6-2 win over ALA Gilbert North and two goals in a 4-2 win over Scottsdale Chaparral on Jan. 2.

Aiden Pimienta, Chandler, soccer, Jr.: He had one goal in a 2-0 win over Phoenix Arcadia on Jan. 2, one assist in a 2-1 win over Goodyear Trivium Prep and one goal in a 6-0 win over Mesa Eastmark on Jan. 3 at the Bohdie Larson Celebration Classic in Mesa.
