ALL-AREA 8-PLAYER FOOTBALL TEAM: Meet the Cheboygan Daily Tribune's all-area 8-player football team

Each week, Cheboygan-area high school athletes will be eligible for the athlete of the week honor. Athlete of the week polls go live on Monday and voting closes at 11 p.m. on Thursday.

Here’s this week’s nominees: 

Brody McGovern, Cheboygan Hockey – Scored two goals and added an assist in games against Ann Arbor Huron and FNV Griffins.

Gunnar Hanel, Inland Lakes Wrestling – Finished first in the 132-pound weight class at the Boyne City Invitational.

Braylon Currie, Mackinaw City Boys Basketball – Tallied 12 points, seven assists and two rebounds against Whittemore-Prescott.

Toby Pike, Onaway Wrestling – Claimed two victories and captured sixth place at the Joe Loren Memorial tournament.
