Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren was attempting to earn a spot on the practice squad when coming to Pittsburgh in 2022 as an undrafted player. My, how times have changed.
During the offseason, the Steelers extended Warren on a three-year deal, and he stated the following. “It’s a great feeling knowing they have my back,” Warren said shortly after the deal was announced. “I’m going to do what I can to have their back.”

At 5-foot-8, 215 pounds, he heard doubts throughout his time in college, and even during the summer when the extension was announced. Warren has more than held up his end of the deal by taking on a heavy workload, running with power and aggression, and showing great vision.
Warren has proven effective as not only a workhorse back but also a receiver out of the backfield. No longer just a role player in the eyes of many, but a legitimate weapon for the Pittsburgh Steelers. A ferocious blocker who has done his part to protect future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
On Sunday night in a wild game, the Steelers held on to beat the Baltimore Ravens, taking sole possession of first place in the AFC North and setting up a matchup with the Houston Texans in next weekend's Wild Card round. It will be a tall task for Warren and the Steelers, as the Texans arguably have the NFL's best defense.
For the regular season, Jaylen Warren finished just shy of 1,000 yards rushing, while totaling eight touchdowns with six coming on the ground.
