Under-the-radar Rams rookie quietly having a great season

1 week ago 2

A lot of talk this season has been about the Rams' veteran stars on both sides of the ball. Players like Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, Kobie Turner, Byron Young and Jared Verse dominate headlines because they're the best players on the team.

The Rams' 2025 rookie class hasn't needed to contribute much because of all this, too. Second-round tight end Terrance Ferguson is emerging as a pass-catching threat and edge rusher Josaiah Stewart is flashing in limited snaps, too.

But the one Rams rookie who is having one of the better seasons among first-year players is undrafted free agent Shaun Dolac. He ranks second among rookies this year with 17 special teams tackles this season as a key member of the Rams' punt and kickoff defense unit.

Dolac ranks fourth on the team in special teams snaps with 249, which means he plays more than 50% of the time. That's someone worth keeping around. He's only played 42 defensive snaps, which isn't a big deal considering he's still a rookie.

For everyone wondering why the Rams picked Dolac over fifth-round pick Chris Paul Jr. during cutdown day this past summer — this is why. Dolac proved himself an adept special teams contributor, which makes his roster spot incredibly necessary.

Dolac will continue to develop on both sides of the ball as his career continues. But for now, he's remains a key part of the Rams' special teams unit moving forward.
