North Carolina’s leading wide receiver, Jordan Shipp, had to be a priority to re-sign when the transfer portal opened, and Bill Belichick and his staff made that happen.
Shipp is staying in Chapel Hill as the program announced Tuesday night that he has re-signed to remain with the team in 2026. In his second season with the program, Shipp had a breakout year, recording 60 catches for 671 yards and six touchdowns. He led UNC wideouts in each category and earned honorable mention All-ACC. He scored a touchdown in four of UNC’s last five games.
Shipp is also one of UNC’s leaders and often served as the team’s spokesman, frequently speaking at the podium during the week and after games. Because of that, he became a fan favorite on this year’s UNC squad and an emotional, rallying voice during a trying season.

When asked about Shipp’s leadership, UNC wide receivers coach Garrick McGee said:
“Yeah, you know, you said Jordan was a sophomore. Sometimes you forget about that because of Jordan's personality,” McGee said. “He'll make you think he's a 10 year NFL veteran. Is the way that he carries himself. But Jordan is a young kid also, but he's just got this personality, this competitive spirit that makes you feel like he's older, you know, but he's doing a good job.”
