The commitments keep rolling in for Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels' football program.

With the transfer portal officially open, North Carolina has several needs to address for 2026. With some key departures from the program, the transfer portal is a good place to help find some replacements. So far, the Tar Heels have signed a handful of players out of the portal while also retaining key players on the roster.

The latest commitment came on Tuesday when the Tar Heels landed former Baylor offensive lineman Sean Thompkins. He pledged his verbal commitment to the program on Tuesday morning, giving UNC some depth on the offensive line.

As a former three-star recruit out of Georgia, Thompkins redshirted his first season and played just one game in the 2024 season. He did start six games for the Bears in the 2025 season, all at left tackle.

In the 2025 season, he allowed just four sacks, four quarterback hits and 16 pressures for pass blocking snaps. He had some solid performances to close out the year for the Bears and the hope is that he can be a key contributor on the Tar Heels' line.
