Two Texas A&M stars named Perfect Game Preseason All‑Americans

4 days ago 2

Texas A&M fans aren’t spending much energy debating preseason NCAA baseball rankings this winter—and understandably so. After a disappointing 2025 campaign, the focus in College Station has shifted from projections to progress. But if there’s one area where preseason lists still matter, it’s prospect rankings. They offer a window into the level of talent expected to take the field, and once again, the Aggies are positioned to showcase future MLB-caliber players.

Despite not yet reaching the summit of college baseball, Texas A&M continues to recruit and develop elite hitters. That trend should carry into the 2026 MLB Draft, and Perfect Game’s Preseason All‑American teams reflect that trajectory. Two Aggies—one homegrown standout and one high‑profile transfer—earned recognition as two of the nation’s top offensive threats.

Below are Texas A&M’s 2026 Preseason All‑Americans.

Caden Sorrell - Junior - Outfield

Caden Sorrell’s 2025 season never truly got off the ground. A hamstring injury followed by a hand issue limited him to just under 30 games, preventing him from finding a consistent rhythm. But when he was healthy, he looked every bit like the player who earned Preseason Second Team All‑SEC honors.

Across 26 games, Sorrell slashed .337/.430/.739 with 32 hits, 31 RBI, and 12 home runs—elite production in limited opportunities. His combination of power, on‑base ability, and athleticism gives the Aggies a proven middle‑of‑the‑order bat, and a fully healthy Sorrell should anchor the lineup from Opening Day.

Chris Hacopian - Junior - Infield

Texas A&M’s biggest offseason addition arrives with one of the most complete offensive profiles in college baseball. Chris Hacopian transferred in after a breakout sophomore season at Maryland, where he hit .375/.502/.656 with 14 home runs and an exceptional 40‑to‑19 walk‑to‑strikeout ratio. His hit tool is his calling card, but his power is at least average and should translate well at third base—his likely home due to strong instincts and reliable hands.

Hacopian missed Fall Ball while recovering from injury, but he’s expected to be ready for Opening Day. His summer performance in the Cape Cod League only reinforced his status as one of the country’s most polished hitters. He ranked in the top 10 in hits (32), doubles (6), and triples (1), and finished top 20 in RBIs (16), batting average (.274), slugging (.393), and OPS (.739). For an Aggie lineup searching for consistency, Hacopian projects as an immediate stabilizer.

With Opening Day about six weeks away, here are the key dates on the Aggies’ preseason calendar:
