Tom Brady knows a thing or two about winning NFL MVP awards. The future Hall of Famer won the award three times in his career, twice in his 30s and once when he was 40 years old.
Now a broadcaster, Brady speaks more openly about his opinions on the current landscape of the NFL and on Sunday, he was asked to make his pick for league MVP: Matthew Stafford or Drake Maye.

His answer came shortly after Stafford threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns against the Cardinals, giving him 46 touchdowns and a league-best 4,707 yards passing. Maye, meanwhile, had just 191 yards and one touchdown against the Dolphins.
Despite Maye playing for his former team in New England, Brady still went with Stafford as this season’s MVP.
“I think what Matthew Stafford’s done this season has been absolutely remarkable,” he said on FOX. “Forty-six touchdowns, for any quarterback, that’s a dream season. He’s been spectacular. Drake Maye on the other side has done some incredible things with Josh McDaniels in their first year together. Drake’s got a long career ahead. I’m sure he’s going to have many opportunities. I would say Matthew Stafford.”
Incredibly, Stafford went from +400 to -135 to win MVP after Sunday’s performance, leapfrogging Maye as the favorite to take home the award. Maye looked like he had it locked up after Week 17 when Stafford threw three picks against the Falcons, but his bounce-back against Arizona may be enough to win him some hardware.

As the NFL leader in passing yards and touchdown passes, it’s easy to get behind Stafford as the MVP of this season. Maye played well, but his numbers are worse and his schedule was weaker.
Many will agree with Brady that Stafford should be the one giving an MVP speech at the NFL Honors show.
