The Tennessee Titans are in the final stretch of the 2025 regular season, and soon their focus will shift to finding their next head coach and rebuilding the organization.
General manager Mike Borgonzi will definitely be busy addressing the needs that must be filled, and will have a chance to prove he was the right man for the job when he was hired to replace Ran Carthon. If his first draft with the Titans is any indication, he is well on his way, but this coaching decision will be a make-or-break moment.

While numerous names have been mentioned in connection with the opening, one name continues to surface: Matt Nagy. That happened again this week when Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano broke down the coaching carousel for ESPN.
Fowler was the first to chime in, pointing out that in a year where defensive coaches have momentum, Nagy might be one of the only coaches with an offensive background to get a look.
One thing this cycle has in spades is defense. It's lacking on offense. I'm expecting Kansas City offensive coordinator Matt Nagy to be in the mix in Tennessee (and possibly elsewhere). Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and Buffalo offensive coordinator Joe Brady have earned interview chances but aren't considered runaway prospects at this point. Stefanski and Kliff Kingsbury might be involved. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher on the interview circuit. And a sleeper candidate is Rams pass-game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, who could see some action. What do you make of that side of the ball, Dan?
Graziano followed Fowler with a point that has been made numerous times.
I've heard Nagy's name a lot; it was thrown around in connection with the Titans' job seemingly within the first few minutes after Brian Callahan was fired. I agree that Kubiak is one to watch, and think he might get more interviews than some might expect him to get. Brady would be the guy to watch in Cincinnati if the Bengals did move on from Taylor, but like you, I don't expect that to happen. The relative lack of top offensive candidates makes me wonder whether Kingsbury gets some attention or even Mike McCarthy gets some looks. However, I haven't heard anything solid on teams being interested in the latter.
This is an easy connection to see. General manager Mike Borgonzi is familiar with Nagy from his days in Kansas City and his work with Patrick Mahomes and the offense. Nagy did have some success in Chicago as the head man, but it was inconsistent at best. He understands culture and what it takes to build a championship-caliber team.

Nagy could be at the top of the list for interviews, but if he comes to Nashville, he will also bring in a different play-caller with him. In an article in The Athletic, Dan Pompei mentions that if given another shot, “(Nagy’s) focus will be on leading. He won’t be a play caller.”
This is an interesting development in this process, and one that could be a difference-maker in the interview that will likely take place in the coming weeks.
