On Friday the transfer portal window officially opened, and there was plenty of positive news with some top players for Notre Dame even after multiple players decided to move on.
The Irish are looking to use the portal to put the finishing touches on its 2026 roster, and one of the top wide receivers will visit South Bend in Nick Marsh. After playing two seasons at Michigan State and having 100 receptions for 1,311-yards and 9 touchdown, he’d be a perfect replacement for Malachi Fields. According to Hayes Fawcett, he’ll be visiting Notre Dame on Jan. 5th through the 6th after seeing Indiana first.

The second player to schedule a visit to see the Irish is former Iowa State cornerback Jontez Williams, who will also visit USC and Florida. His season was cut short due to an injury, but is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the season. Williams will see Notre Dame the same days as Marsh will according to Fawcett and is viewed as one of the top portal players available at his position.
Finally, defensive tackle Xavier Gilliam will make a visit after spending two seasons with Penn State. He played sparingly during his first year, then had 16 tackles with 0.5 sacks this fall. The intriguing interior prospect will visit South Bend according to Chris Hummer, and also see Indiana and Texas A&M. Gilliam would be a great depth piece for Notre Dame and would have three more seasons of eligibility remaining.
These three are the first of many visitors that the Irish will host during the portal windows, and it’s a fantastic start for Notre Dame.
