Three Packers miss Jan. 2 practice two days before the Vikings game

GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers had three players out for the second straight day during their Jan. 2 practice.

Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs was dressed and participating in his second practice since signing with the Packers on Dec. 31.

All four of the Packers quarterbacks – Jordan Love, Malik Willis, Clayton Tune and Desmond Ridder – were present and set for practice during the pre-practice stretching period.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said it’s “to be determined” who will back up Tune when the Packers face the Minnesota Vikings on Jan. 4.

LaFleur was complimentary of Tune’s week of practice.

“I think he’s done an outstanding job,” LaFleur said Jan. 2. “Talk about ownership of the plan and command in the huddle. The operation, all the little things that are big things, in terms of your ability to go out and execute. I think he’s done an outstanding job. [Quarterbacks coach] Sean Mannion has put a ton of time in with him and is really getting him up to speed.”

Dontayvion Wicks injury update

Packers receiver Dontayvion Wicks missed practice all week, making it unlikely he’ll play against the Vikings.

Wicks left the game against the Baltimore Ravens in the first half and was evaluated for a concussion. He didn’t return.

Savion Williams injury update

Packers receiver/special-teamer Savion Williams missed practice for the second straight day. He practiced just one day this week Dec. 31 and was a limited participant.

Williams is dealing with a foot injury and an illness.
