The path to the Green Bay Packers facing the Chicago Bears to open the NFC playoffs just got more likely. According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles are planning to rest quarterback Jalen Hurts and other key starters in their regular season finale against the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
The Packers, who are locked into the No. 7 seed, can only face the Bears or Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Round.

To become the No. 2 seed and face the Packers, the Eagles would need to beat the Commanders and have the Bears lose to the Detroit Lions in Week 18. An Eagles loss to the Commanders would lock in the Bears as the No. 2 seed.
The Commanders have lost 10 of the last 11 games, and quarterback Jayden Daniels is shelved for the rest of the season, so there's no guaranteeing Dan Quinn's struggling team can beat even the Eagles' backups. But the likelihood of a Commanders win just increased significantly.
Tanner McKee is the backup quarterback for the Eagles. Last season, the Eagles rested starters in the season finale, started McKee at quarterback and beat the New York Giants by a touchdown.
The Eagles beat the Commanders 29-18 in Washington in Week 16.

If the Bears secure the No. 2 seed and host the Packers, the Eagles would face either the Los Angeles Rams or San Francisco 49ers as the No. 3 seed.
The Packers and Bears split their season series, with each team winning at home in dramatic fashion. The Eagles beat the Packers at Lambeau Field in Week 10.
