After days of uncertainty, the Longhorns received a welcome update regarding Trevor Goosby on Saturday. The Longhorns have reportedly retained the talented offensive lineman for the 2026 season, according to the Houston Chronicle's Kirk Bohls. With Goosby back in the mix, the Longhorns' offensive line will have a veteran star to lean on as they chase a national title.

Since making his collegiate debut, Goosby has become one of Steve Sarkisian's most important players. He has appeared in 28 games, making 11 starts during the 2025 campaign, which was a career high. For an offense that struggled at times, Goosby was a source of consistency while protecting Arch Manning in his first season as the starter.

For Texas, the return of the Melissa High Alum is a major boost. Before the Citrus Bowl, Goosby said he would decide whether or not to enter the NFL Draft after the game was over. Texas ended its 2025 campaign with a win and now has another reason to celebrate.

Over the last few weeks, the Longhorns' roster has undergone major changes. Their losses to the transfer portal this week include wide receiver Parker Livingstone, offensive lineman Nate Kibble, offensive lineman Neto Umeozulu, and cornerback Caleb Chester. Due to their departures, the Longhorns are expected to be busy in the college football version of free agency.

As Goosby stepped into a starting role during the 2025 campaign, Texas continued to be one of the best teams in the SEC. They finished the regular season with a 9-3 record. That included a 6-2 mark in conference play. To make a deep playoff run, they will need their success against SEC teams to continue.

With many upgrades needed, Steve Sarkisian will be busy over the next few weeks bringing in as much talent as possible. However, one player he doesn't have to worry about replacing is Goosby, who has proven his value and conquered every obstacle put in his way.
