The Texas Longhorns' running game is getting a major boost. On Thursday, Texas secured a commitment from one of the best backs in the transfer portal, Raleek Brown.
Over the last few weeks, they have lost stars such as Quintrveion Wisner to the portal. With Brown now in the mix, the Longhorns offense has a running back with star potential that can take some pressure off Arch Manning.

As Brown begins his Longhorns career, he will be looking to build on a stellar 2025 campaign. In his second season as a Sun Devil, the California native set career highs in rushing yards with 1,141 and rushing touchdowns with four. He also made his presence felt in the passing game with 239 yards on 34 receptions. That is partly why Brown was one of the top players available.
For the Longhorns, that production represents a major upgrade. Their leading rusher was Quintrevion Wisner, who finished with 597 yards on 131 carries. He was the only Longhorn running back to finish with more than 236 yards. If Brown can match his numbers from his career year, the offense will be in good shape.
Before joining Arizona State, Brown spent the first two years of his college career with USC. The former five-star recruit was ranked as the 25th-best running back in his class. Now he will get to be a vocal part of the offense for one of the top programs in the country.
Although the expectations for Brown are high, he is entering a situation where he can thrive. While Maning showed promising signs during his first year as a starter, the Longhorns running game did not meet expectations. That problem should be solved with Brown leading the way. '

While the Longhorns still have more holes to fill, they have crossed off a major weakness by securing a commitment from Brown and upgrading the offense.
