Texas A&M will reportedly host Jackson State transfer Edge next week

There’s no surprise that Texas A&M will be in the market for a few proven or high-upside defensive ends during this portal cycle. The Aggies are losing Cashius Howell to the NFL Draft, along with several others to the portal, and while there’s young talent waiting in the wings, a veteran presence is a clear necessity.

On Friday, Matt Zenitz reported that Jackson State redshirt junior defensive end Emmanuel Oyebadejo has included Texas A&M among the programs he plans to visit.

After missing the entire 2024 season due to injury, Oyebadejo returned with force this fall. He posted 41 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks, while adding five pass breakups and two forced fumbles. His performance earned him First-Team All-Conference USA honors, and he finished as one of the highest-graded defenders overall per Pro Football Focus with an 82.0 rating.

A&M is currently the only program involved with the No. 6 defensive lineman in the portal, and the staff will need to make a compelling case to land the 6-foot-7, 320-pound disruptor. That pitch should start with the program’s recent draft success: following this spring, the Aggies will have produced their second first-round edge rusher in as many years—not to mention the handful of other defensive linemen drafted over the last two seasons.

Getting Oyebadejo on campus is already a strong first step. Landing him would be a significant move toward rebuilding a defense that needs immediate impact up front.
