The transfer portal chaos has begun, and Texas A&M is already in line to host a long list of talented veterans who are looking for a new home, including standout Nevada edge Jonathan Maldonado and Auburn wide receiver Malcolm Simmons, who would immediately become impact players next season if they choose to sign with the Aggies.
However, the No. 1-ranked player in the transfer portal is still in head coach Mike Elko's grasp, according to sources, as Simmons' 2025 teammate, former Texas A&M commit, and future NFL first-round draft selection, wide receiver Cam Coleman, is looking for a new home ahead of the 2026 season. Since entering earlier this week, Coleman was immediately connected to A&M and the Texas Longhorns, while Alabama, USC, and Texas Tech are also in the mix.

On Friday, it was confirmed that Coleman will visit Texas and the Aggies next week and will plan trips to USC, Tech, and Alabama at later dates. For those who have been paying attention, Coleman, who once committed to Texas A&M back on July 4, 2023, before ultimately flipping to Auburn, is well aware of what College Station has to offer, while the Longhorns, desperate for a No. 1 wide receiver after Parker Livingstone entered the portal, provide similar benefits.
Coleman is a game-changer-type athlete and has been compared to Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens, which is quite the compliment. A true X receiver, the Alabama native reeled in 56 receptions for 708 yards and five touchdowns during his final season with the Tigers, which is impressive given the bad quarterback play.
Whoever lands Coleman will reap the benefits, but it's important to note that all five programs listed have a legitimate shot, while this could turn into a bidding war that goes to the school with the deepest pockets.
