Texas A&M will compete with two SEC programs for transfer RB

5 days ago 2

Texas A&M's pursuit of Baylor transfer running back Byrson Washington was revealed earlier this week, as head coach Mike Elko and his staff reportedly hosted the junior on Wednesday, looking to add him to an already established lineup that features Rueben Owens, Jamarion Morrow, and several young up-and-comers, including incoming freshman KJ Edwards.

While Elko could easily head into the season feeling ok about this group, adding a physical back like Washington, who rushed for 788 yards and six touchdowns last season, would put the backfield depth over the top, and help the run game create a balanced offense and further aid in starting quarterback Marcel Reed's development as a pocket passer.

After his visit, it was reported on Wednesday afternoon that Washington's schedule will no longer include a trip to Wisconsin, ruling out the Badgers moving forward. He has now lined up visits with Tennessee and Auburn, who are also in need of additional running back depth.

This isn't surprising given the status of Texas A&M's backfield, but the Aggies should feel good where they stand heading into the weekend. After landing four offensive linemen from the portal, every current and future running back running behind this line shouldn't struggle to find holes.
