Texas A&M transfer cornerback has found a new SEC home for 2026

The transfer portal giveth, and the transfer portal taketh away. In what increasingly resembles NFL free agency, the portal now commands far more attention than National Signing Day or even the early signing period. Love it or hate it, it’s not going anywhere—and every program in the country feels its impact.

But the portal also provides players the same flexibility coaches enjoy: the chance to leave when a better opportunity presents itself. On Monday, former Texas A&M freshman cornerback Cobey Sellers found exactly that, landing at a new home within a familiar conference.

According to Jgpvisuals, Sellers will join the Vanderbilt Commodores for the 2026 season and will arrive in Nashville with four years of eligibility remaining. The former four‑star prospect—a verified-speed dual‑sport athlete—signed with the Aggies as a developmental piece expected to push for snaps in the coming years. He appeared in one game this season, against Samford, but did not record any statistics.

You can see his announcement below.

The NCAA football transfer portal opens Jan. 2 and runs through Jan. 16.
