Texas A&M's 2025 linebacker rotation will likely feature one or two transfer portal additions, as senior LB Scooby Williams, who missed most of the 2025 season due to injury, has officially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, joining fellow Aggie seniors, including running back EJ Smith and defensive tackle Albert Regis, who announced their intentions over the last 48 hours.
After three seasons with the Florida Gators, former Texas A&M defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jay Bateman, who served as Florida's LB coach during Williams' final two seasons in Gainesville, recruited Williams to College Station after recording 52 tackles, a sack, and two forced fumbles during the 2023 season.

However, Williams was not a polished linebacker, earning a dismal 43 defensive grade and 39.7 tackling grade from Pro Football Focus after the 2025 campaign. Under Bateman and head coach Mike Elko's tutelage, William's level of play jumped off the page. While playing through injury during the 2024 campaign, the Alabama native recorded 43 tackles, four pass breakups, and his first career interception.
In just seven games this season, Williams earned a prolific PFF pass rush grade (87.3) paired with a solid 78.9 defensive grade, despite recording just 19 tackles on the year.
Standing at 6'2" and 230 pounds, Williams' absence during the latter half of the 2025 season hurt Texas A&M's run defense, and while he could have potentially returned for one more year, his improvement over the past two seasons has not only helped his draft status but has also provided a ceiling for NFL teams looking to develop his skillset.
