When you have a good football team, your roster and coaching staff tend to get poached. For players, the transfer portal can be a gamble—roughly 30% of those who enter never play another snap. For coaches, the calculus is different. Moves are usually tied to raises, promotions, and the natural upward pull of success.
That’s exactly why former Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein left for Kansas State. And on his way out the door, he’s bringing a few familiar faces with him. On Tuesday, Kansas State officially announced that former Texas A&M Associate Director of Football Strength and Conditioning, Jeremy Jacobs, has been hired as the Wildcats’ new Director of Strength and Conditioning.

It marks Jacobs’ first opportunity to lead an S&C program after a decade in the industry, with previous stops at LSU and Duke, primarily in assistant roles. Both Jacobs and Klein shared statements on the hire:
"My family and I feel very blessed to be a part of the K-State Family. Time to get to work!" - Jacobs
"Jeremy is one of the best strength coaches in the country. He's a great leader, disciplined, tough and builds great relationships with his players. He is a huge part of building our K-State culture!" - Klein
Jacobs joins Christian Ellsworth and Jordan Peterson as the latest staffers to follow Klein to Manhattan. The silver lining for Texas A&M is that Klein has been transparent about his intentions throughout the process, meaning none of these departures likely caught head coach Mike Elko off guard. In fact, the turnover opens the door for Elko to bring in more experienced voices—or rising young talent—that may not have been available when he first assembled his staff.
It’s the yin and yang of success: when you’re winning, people take notice, and opportunities follow. You can see the official announcement below.
