Texas A&M 'not expected to be a factor' in transfer OL's recruitment

6 days ago 2

Texas A&M's offensive line is currently undergoing a significant change, as four starters from the 2025 rotation have declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, including junior left guard Chase Bisontis, who will leave earlier than expected due to his first or second-round draft grade. However, head coach Mike Elko and O-line coach Adam Cushing were ready for these departures, and have already moves in the transfer portal.

Last weekend, former Texas A&M commit and LSU sophomore guard Coen Echols re-committed to the Aggies and could easily slot in at left or right guard. On Monday, it was revealed that South Carolina guard Trovon Baugh was the next offensive line commit, which came as a surprise to many, bringing plenty of experience and size as the Gamecock's starting right guard last season.

Still, tackle looks like the most important position remaining to shore up the 2026 offensive line, leading to Wednesday's announcements that LSU transfer left tackle Tyree Adams and Alabama guard/tackle Wikin Formby had also committed to Texas A&M, and might be the final O-line additions in the portal. If that ends up being the case, one of the Aggies' recent visitors, NC State transfer left tackle Jacarrius Peak, might not be on the radar anymore.

According to On3 insider Pete Nakos, the Aggies are "not expected to be a factor" in his recruitment down the stretch after landing Tyree Adams, who, on paper, could easily slide in as the team's starting left tackle next season.

"Coming off a visit to Texas A&M, sources tell On3 that South Carolina and Alabama are two clear teams to watch. The Aggies are not expected to be a factor in the recruitment since they landed LSU transfer offensive tackle Tyree Adams on Wednesday morning."

Peak is strictly a left tackle, similar to Adams, while Formby has experience at right guard and right tackle. This doesn't rule out targeting another veteran tackle, as it's been confirmed that Elko plans to host Tennessee transfer right tackle Lance Heard in the "near future."
