No. 23 Tennessee (8-4, 4-4 SEC) will conclude its 2025 football season in the Liberty Mutual Music City Bowl. The Vols will face Illinois (8-4, 5-4 Big Ten) on Tuesday.
Kickoff between the Vols and Fighting Illini is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. ESPN will televise the first meeting between the two schools all time.

Tuesday will mark the seventh time that the Vols will play on Dec. 30. Tennessee has a 4-2 record in previous games contested on this date. Tuesday's contest will also mark the third time the Vols will compete in the Music City Bowl next Dec. 30. Tennessee is 1-2 in its previous bowl game appearances on Dec. 30.
The Vols first appeared in the Music City Bowl in 2010, losing a, 30-27, double-overtime game to North Carolina. In 2016, the Vols defeated Nebraska, 38-24.
In 2021, the Vols lost to Purdue, 48-45, in overtime.
Tennessee last played on Dec. 30 in 2022, defeating Clemson, 31-14, in the Orange Bowl.

Tennessee also defeated Virginia Tech in the Gator Bowl, 45-23, on Dec. 30, 1994. The Vols first played on Dec. 30 in 1972, defeating LSU, 24-17, in Houston, Texas.
