The Pittsburgh Steelers received an injury update on tight end Darnell Washington, and it’s the last thing fans were looking to hear ahead of the Week 18 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
On Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin revealed that Washington underwent surgery to repair the broken arm he suffered in the Week 17 loss to the Cleveland Browns, and he will miss the rest of the season.
Selected with the 93rd overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Washington was finishing up what’s been a breakout Year 3, cementing himself as a staple of Pittsburgh’s offense.

Washington’s injury will have a major impact on all facets of the offensive game plan, as the massive tight end became just as important as a pass catcher as he was an accomplished blocker. The Steelers will need to adapt—and do so fast—with the Week 18 matchup against the Ravens rapidly approaching.
