Steelers' Aaron Rodgers says he has multiple 2026 free agency options

Aaron Rodgers provided some exciting news as to what the future holds in regard to his playing career — and it doesn’t sound like he’s ready to retire just yet. But that doesn't guarantee that he'll play with the Pittsburgh Steelers either.

While Rodgers made it clear to reporters that he’s solely focused on the Week 18 matchup against the Ravens, he also revealed that there are a few options he may consider as free agency looms.

“Listen, I’m thinking about this week, but obviously I’m 42 years old and I’m on a one-year deal. So, you know what the situation is,” Rodgers said Wednesday. “Whenever the season ends, I’ll be a free agent. That’ll give me a lot of options if I still want to play. I mean, not a lot of options, but there’ll be options. I would think, maybe one or two, if I decide I still want to play.”

Speculating as to what these possible two options could be, a return to Pittsburgh or signing with the Minnesota Vikings makes the most sense.

Before signing with Pittsburgh this offseason, multiple reports indicated that Rodgers was entertaining the idea of playing for Minnesota, until the Vikings chose to move forward with second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Hopefully, Rodgers can return to Pittsburgh next season to give the team a stopgap option at quarterback, giving the team an additional year to find its long-term answer at signal caller.
