Stats indicate Brady Cook has been among worst Jets QBs of all time

New York Jets quarterback Brady Cook has played extensively in four total games this season, with three consecutive starts. The undrafted rookie has struggled mightily.

Cook has completed just 58.8% of his passing attempts. He's thrown one touchdown and seven interceptions.

The advanced metrics are even worse. Cook's Pro Football Focus grade of 28.6 is the worst single-season grade among all QBs with at least 150 dropbacks in the PFF era (since 2006, per Justin T. Fried).

Fried put together some other interesting factoids from PFF. The stat-charting company claims Cook has made one big-time throw (BTT) this campaign compared to 13 turnover-worthy plays (TWP). That 1-to-13 BTT-to-TWP ratio is also the worst among all QBs in the PFF era (minimum qualifiers included).

The Jets haven't simply lost all four contests Cook has appeared in. They've been outscored 153-46, getting truly throttled in every game the first-year quarterback has been under center for. Both the offense and defense have struggled to endure Cook's nonexistent impact.

The Jets will have a new starting quarterback next season. Justin Fields is a likely salary cap casualty. The aging Tyrod Taylor is on an expiring contract.

Cook obviously hasn't proven capable of playing at the NFL level. Currently slotted for the third overall pick in the real-time 2026 NFL draft order, the Jets need to find a way to get their hands on Fernando Mendoza or Dante Moore.

Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 offseason.
