Michigan State basketball dropped a few spots outside of the top 10 in the latest Associated Press (AP) poll.

The Spartans dropped three spots in the latest AP Top 25 released on Monday, coming in at No. 12 in this week's updated poll. Michigan State lost its last game at Nebraska (who moved up to No. 10), which explains the drop in the updated rankings.

Michigan State is one of six teams from the Big Ten included in this week's media rankings. The Spartans were joined by Michigan (No. 2), Purdue (No. 5), Nebraska (No. 10), Illinois (No. 16) and Iowa (No. 19). USC, Indiana and UCLA also received votes in this week's poll.

Michigan State is 12-2 overall on the year, and holds a 2-1 record in Big Ten play. The Spartans will host USC -- who fell out of the rankings this week -- on Monday.
