South Bay Lakers recap: G League Lakers outlast Clippers

2 hours ago 1

On Wednesday, the South Bay Lakers looked to bounce back from back-to-back road losses to the Austin Spurs when they took on the San Diego Clippers at UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo.

They came out hot and took a 36-11 lead with just over a minute and a half left in the first quarter, but they then let San Diego back into the game. South Bay still led 71-55 at halftime, but it gave up a 16-2 run to start the third quarter and found itself in a dogfight for much of the rest of the contest.

While it briefly re-established a double-digit lead early in the fourth period, the Clippers tied the game at 111 with 4:15 to go in the game. In the end, the Lakers were able to escape with a 120-115 win.

Drew Timme led them in scoring with 31 points on 11-of-22 field-goal shooting, to go along with 11 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block. R.J. Davis had 28 points, and Kobe Bufkin added 14 points off the bench.

The Lakers now have a 5-3 regular-season record, which puts them in fourth place in the Western Conference.
