Everything seemed ready for Giacomo Raspadori’s arrival at Trigoria, but in the last few hours a sudden setback has come about, threatening to derail, or at least derail, sporting director Frederic Massara’s plans.
Although Roma and Atlético Madrid have reached a full agreement on a loan with an option to buy, the main obstacle now lies in the player’s desire.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, the Azzurri striker has not yet given his final green light to a move to the capital.
The reason for the hesitation is not financial or related to his move to the Giallorossi—for which Raspadori has great respect, especially given the presence of Gasperini—but rather a surge of professional pride.
The former Napoli player considers it a personal defeat to leave the Colchoneros just six months after arriving in Spain, without having had the time to prove his worth under Simeone.
This desire for redemption in Madrid is apparently blocking a deal that Roma considered to be nearing completion.

Time is now against Roma. Atlético Madrid faces Real Sociedad and, immediately afterward, they will depart for Saudi Arabia to play the Spanish Super Cup.
If the deal isn’t finalized within the next few hours—a possibility that currently seems unlikely given the player’s position—any negotiations will be postponed for at least ten days.
This is too long a window of opportunity for Roma, who need immediate reinforcements to avoid missing the Champions League.
