Sixers' Justin Edwards leads Blue Coats to win on G League assignment

4 days ago 2

The G League is a useful tool for everybody in the NBA to get their younger players the necessary court time needed to succeed and develop. The Philadelphia 76ers had an off day on Sunday after returning home from their 5-game road trip and sent second-year forward Justin Edwards to their affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, to get some time on the floor.

Edwards had 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists to lead the Blue Coats to a 130-94 win over the Birmingham Squadron on Sunday afternoon. He shot 8-for-17 from the floor and knocked down three triples in the performance.

While Edwards had a solid game, the Sixers saw other youngers such as Johni Broome (19 points and six rebonds) and MarJon Beauchamp (22 points, eight assists, and five rebounds) put up solid performances as well.

It's been a bit up and down for Edwards with the Sixers in his second season. He's averaging just 5.3 points and shooting 33.3% from deep as he has been unable to find a consistent rhythm. Time in the G League like this is a good thing for him to get the court time to develop.
