Sixers' Joel Embiid receives new injury status designation vs. Magic

The Philadelphia 76ers will begin a quick 3-game road trip on Friday when they take on the Orlando Magic in an important matchup for the standings. The Sixers enter the contest a half-game ahead of the Magic for the No. 5 seed and the winner of Friday's contest will clinch the tiebreaker as it is the third and final matchup between the teams with the series tied 1-1.

The Sixers will be a much healthier team than they were when they fell to the Magic by 41 back on Nov. 25. Joel Embiid, VJ Edgecombe, Paul George, and Kelly Oubre Jr. all missed that game and Philadelphia also lost Trendon Watford early in that contest.

That won't be the case this time around as Edgecombe, George, Oubre, and Watford are all available and Embiid has been upgraded to probable for the contest. The big fella was initially listed as questionable for this matchup.

The Sixers and the Magic will tip off at 7 p.m. EST on Friday before Philadelphia heads to Canada to take on the Toronto Raptors for two games to complete their 3-game trip.
