Shane Steichen reveals Week 18 status for Colts' QB Anthony Richardson

Quarterback Anthony Richardson will not be activated for the Indianapolis Colts' regular-season finale against Houston.

Head coach Shane Steichen confirmed on Wednesday that Richardson will remain on injured reserve. Steichen said that Richardson still has vision limitations as he recovers from an orbital fracture.

This seemed to be the direction things were headed. On Monday, when asked about Richardson's availability, Steichen was non-committal at that time.

"Like I said, he's still got the eye limitations, and we just want to be really smart with that, to be completely honest," Steichen said on Monday.

Richardson was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 12th. He returned to practice prior to Week 16 and has been a limited participant in all six practices up to this point.

The 2026 season will be the final of Richardson's rookie deal. The Colts have to either pick up or decline Richardson's fifth-year option for the 2027 season this offseason.

Richardson's future with the Colts remains up in the air at this point.
