Second half surge pushes Warriors past Jazz in 123-114 win on Saturday

4 days ago 2

After suffering a blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, without multiple key pieces, the Golden State Warriors' rotation looked different on Saturday night against the Utah Jazz for the second leg of their home back-to-back. Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler made their much-needed return to the lineup on Saturday after missing Friday's rough loss to the Thunder.

Despite reinforcements on the court, things got off to a rocky start for the Warriors with the Jazz in town. Through the first half, the Warriors trailed the Jazz, falling down by as many as 12 points. At the halftime whistle, the Warriors went into the locker room trailing by seven points. As the Warriors struggled out of the gate, the first half included an ejection for Draymond Green.

With under three minutes remaining in the first half, Green appeared to be frustrated the Jazz were not whistled for a three-second violation. After jawing at the official on the baseline, Green was assessed a technical before quickly picking up his second technical and was ejected from the game. Green finished with eight points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field with three rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes.

However, the second half was different for the Warriors. Led by Steph Curry, the Warriors erased Utah's advantage and took command of the game. Curry scored 20 of his game-high 31 points in the third quarter. Curry knocked down four 3-pointers in the third quarter. Behind a flurry of buckets from Curry, the Warriors carried a four-point lead into the fourth quarter and never looked back on the way to a 123-114 win on Saturday night.

Curry finished with 31 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field with six made 3-pointers to go along with five assists and two boards in 34 minutes. Jimmy Butler and Quinten Post each notched 15 points for the Warriors. De'Anthony Melton added 13 points off the bench on 5-of-11 shooting with three made 3-pointers to go along with seven boards and two assists.

After splitting their home back-to-back, the Warriors moved to 19-17 on the season. The Warriors will now get Sunday off before traveling to Hollywood to meet the red-hot Los Angeles Clippers.
