Saints have better win rate at Mercedes-Benz Stadium than Falcons do

1 week ago 2

It had to be the Atlanta Falcons. Of course that's how the New Orleans Saints will end their season -- on the road against their oldest rivals. The next chapter is about to be written in NFL's best rivalry.

While the Falcons are proud of their home field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, they haven't done a good job defending it. Atlanta has only won 33 of their 72 home games at the stadium since opening its doors back in 2017. That's a win percentage of just .458, which ranks among the 10 worst teams since 2017.

The Saints have won more often at the Falcons' home field than the Falcons themselves. They've made the trip eight times (and Sunday's game will be the ninth), winning five of those games. That's a win percentage of .625. It's got to be embarrassing for Atlanta to be outdone by their rivals at their home stadium.

But the Saints have lost each of their last two meetings in Atlanta. This is an opportunity to end that trend before it can turn into a real losing streak. And if Tyler Shough can pull it off without weapons like Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara, with a patchwork offensive line protecting him? That would be awful impressive.
