The New Orleans Saints have set a number of records that no one wants to be the owner of this year, some of which encompass all of the NFL, and others that are specific to the franchise. Here's another one nobody wants to hold.
New Orleans added to that list on Sunday when they were outscored 7-0 by the Atlanta Falcons on the road, recording their worst first-quarter point differential in a season since at least 2000, according to TruMedia. It should be noted the tracking on that specific stat does not go back any further than 2000.

After being outscored 7-0 in the first 15 minutes of their final game of the season, the Saints have now been outscored 122-29 in the first quarter of all games combined for the season. New Orleans finally put their first points on the board with third-and-goal touchdown run by quarterback Tyler Shough late in the second quarter.
Starting faster and moving the ball more effectively has to be a priority in 2026. Whether that means making more investments in Shough's supporting cast through free agency and the NFL draft, the Saints must make some changes to set themselves up for success next season.
