Rutgers football lands 1st transfer addition of offseason

Rutgers football has landed its first transfer addition of the offseason, and it’s a player with a strong local connection.

The Scarlet Knights announced Jan. 4 they had added Zahmir Dawud, a cornerback who had spent the previous three seasons at Villanova.

The 6-foot, 185-pound Dawud is a North Brunswick native and North Brunswick High School graduate.

Dawud’s addition will help Rutgers’ secondary after it lost cornerbacks Bo Mascoe and Jacobie Henderson to the transfer portal.

Dawud, who visited Rutgers over the weekend, had 44 tackles and two interceptions for the Wildcats this past season.

He has two years of eligibility remaining.
