Report: Tennessee Titans set to interview Matt Nagy on Thursday

6 days ago 2

The Tennessee Titans are moving full speed into their search for a new head coach. On Monday, the initial list of potential interviews started to trickle out of the team’s headquarters. To no one’s surprise, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy was atop the list.

Nagy has been mentioned in connection with the Titans' opening since Brian Callahan was fired in October, so an interview was always a possibility. Nagy has a well-documented history of working with general manager Mike Borgonzi during their time together with the Chiefs, both before and after Nagy’s tenure as head coach of the Chicago Bears.

We now know that the first interview between the two sides will take place on Thursday. This week's interview with Nagy will be held virtually, and any potential second interview will be in person later in the month.

As head coach, Nagy has a 34-31 record with the Bears over four seasons, including two playoff berths, and was named the 2018 NFL Coach of the Year. But most importantly, his understanding of team culture and his experience working with Patrick Mahomes make him an attractive candidate.

Borgonzi and his staff will also meet with Lou Anarumo, Kevin Stefanski, Raheem Morris, and many other candidates as part of a methodical coaching search.
