Gonzalo Garcia was the man chosen to replace Kylian Mbappe in Real Madrid’s starting lineup against Real Betis earlier today, and the youngster repaid the manager’s faith in the best possible manner.

In just his second league start for Real Madrid this season, Garcia scored a stunning hat-trick to pioneer the men in white to a famous 5-1 win over Los Verdiblancos and ran away with the man-of-the-match title.

His performance, needless to say, only brings more questions as to why he has not played more this season despite his stunning form in the FIFA Club World Cup and his obvious talent.

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano in a recent report, Real Madrid never really considered parting ways with Garcia and have always valued his talent highly.

Despite rumours of a potential exit last summer and in the ongoing January transfer window, Los Blancos never really gave much weightage to the option and were always clear that he was one to stay.

Xabi Alonso and Co. have rated Garcia highly from day one and see him as a talented number nine with huge potential to succeed with the first team.

While it is true that the youngster has not seen much prominence so far this season, the club’s decision to hang on to him while sending Endrick out on loan clearly shows that he is ahead in the manager’s pecking order.

Now having scored a hat-trick under pressure and proven his worth, it will be interesting to see if Alonso gives him more prominence in the second half of the season.
