Ravens Receive Major Update on Lamar Jackson's Status vs Steelers

1 week ago 2

The Baltimore Ravens must win on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers if they want to keep their season alive, and they might have had the best New Year’s Day news of anyone on Wednesday.

As their biggest game of the regular season looms only a few short days away, the biggest question surrounding the Ravens is whether multi-time MVP Lamar Jackson will be available for the big matchup.

Jackson was sidelined last week in a must-win against the Green Bay Packers following a back contusion injury he suffered against the New England Patriots. This injury was just another of several that Jackson has picked up this season, that has sidelined him, with his hamstring also forcing him to miss multiple weeks in the middle of the season.

Head coach John Harbaugh has not been one to mince words or hyperbolize injuries involving Jackson this year, which has brought pessimism to Ravens fans throughout a frustrating season.

Wednesday, though, the generally subdued Harbaugh gave a strong, positive update on Jackson’s back, saying he’s “very optimistic” his superstar QB will be ready to play on Sunday night.

The Ravens vs. Steelers will be the final game of the NFL regular season, with one team moving on to the playoffs as the winner of the AFC North, while the other will be watching from home.

Pittsburgh could have wrapped up the division crown last week as heavy favorites against the already-eliminated Cleveland Browns, but fell behind early against the defensive juggernaut and couldn’t climb out of the hole they dug themselves in.

If the Ravens win on Sunday, it will be their third-straight AFC North title and fifth in eight years.
