Raiders schedule interview with hot name OC from top seed Seahawks

4 days ago 2

At or near the top of any head coaching candidate list this offseason is Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. The son of former longtime NFL coach Gary Kubiak has guided new QB Sam Darnold and the Seahawks to the top seed in the NFC. And the Raiders have landed an interview with him as their fourth head coach interview this week.

What three of the Raiders upcoming interviews have in common in they're all from the two top seeded teams in their respective conferences. That's because those teams have a bye and therefore their in-demand assistants are available this week for interviews.

It's a big win for the Raiders to even land an interview with Kubiak. You might recall last offseason, there were a couple head coach candidates they really liked who opted not to even interview with the team. Those coaches were Ben Johnson (Bears) and Mike Vrabel (Patriots), both of whom led their teams to the playoffs in their first year on the job.

Many believe Kubiak is the ideal head coach candidate for the Raiders. The offense in Las Vegas needs a serious boost. The kind of boost Kubiak gave the Seattle offense in his first season there. Not to mention what he was able to get out of Darnold considering the Raiders are about to take a QB atop of April's draft.

Kubiak is a rising star in the coaching ranks and if the Raiders don't hire him, someone else likely will.
