While the future of Brian Flores as a head coach remains up in the air, he has cemented himself as one of the best defensive coordinators and playcallers in the NFL today.
The Minnesota Vikings have enjoyed a renaissance in their defense during his tenure since he joined Kevin O'Connell's staff in 2023. In the three years he has led the Vikings' defense, they have averaged out to be the 13th-ranked defense, forcing an average of 27 turnovers and 46 sacks a season. His defenses are known for their aggression and the ability to take over games.

Because of that, Brian Flores is wanted by each team in the league, seemingly, and it just so happens his contract is up at the end of the 2025 season.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio shared on Monday, Dec. 29, that the Vikings may have competition for Flores. He shared that the Cowboys, a team with an offense averaging 28.4 points per game and a defense giving up 29.8, may be interested in his services.
Florio writes, "Dallas seems to be destined to fire defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, after a disastrous reunion year. (Never mind the fact that owner/G.M. Jerry Jones traded the defense’s best player 10 days before Week 1.) And the increasing chatter in league circles is that the Cowboys will be firmly in play for Flores. . .Flores could be the winner, either way. If Jones decides to give true credence to his periodic claim about the size of the check he’d write to win a Super Bowl, he’ll put real cash on the table. Which could spark a bidding war for Flores, between Dallas, Minnesota, and whoever else may decide to try to hire him."
The Vikings losing Flores would be something that they cannot afford to have happen in the current window they find themselves in. They are trying to secure an extension, as Florio points out in his piece, but there is a lot of legwork left to be done on that deal, and also one with the Cowboys.
