PREPS: Durand-Arkansaw powers to boys basketball victory

The Durand-Arkansaw boys basketball team earned a 71-66 win over Plainview-Elgin-Millville on Monday night in the Lewiston Auto Holiday Classic.

Junior Luke Weber led the Panthers with 27 points while making three 3-point goals in a game played at Winona State University.

Senior Billy Weisenbeck contributed 17 points and classmate Brett Breidung added 14 for Durand-Arkansaw.

Weber and Breidung each connected on three 3-point goals.

The Panthers are 6-2 overall.

La Crosse Central 59, Eau Claire Memorial 55

The Old Abes dropped a closely contested non-conference game on the road.

Memorial is now 3-5 overall. The Riverhawks improved to 4-1.

Chippewa Falls McDonell 77, Mellen 59

The Macks won their fifth straight game in rolling to a win in the Denny Laramy Holiday Classic at home.

Cael Holm scored 21 points on seven 3-pointers to lead McDonell.

The Macks improved to 5-1 overall.

Menomonie 71, Antigo 34

Jacob Rue scored 19 points while hitting five 3-point goals to lead the Mustangs at home.

Trevor Robert added 16 points for Menomonie.

The Mustangs improved to 5-2.

Osceola 73, Elk Mound 60

The Mounders fell in a non-conference contest at home.

Elk Mound is 1-5 overall. Osceola improved to 7-0.

GIRLS BASKETBALLEau Claire Memorial 79, Grafton 44

The Old Abes won their sixth straight game with a victory at the Ab Nicholas Holiday Classic.

Memorial improved to 6-1 overall.

Wisconsin Rapids 47, Chippewa Falls 32

Senior Jillian Wik scored eight points to lead the Cardinals in a non-conference setback at home.

Junior Malia Kalien added six points on two 3-pointers for Chippewa Falls.

The visiting Raiders are now 8-2. The Cardinals dropped to 2-8.
