Portal Watch: Longhorns trending for two electric playmakers

The transfer portal is officially open and the chaos has begun. The Longhorns find themselves in the middle of the storm, needing to add an elite portal class heading into an “All-In” 2026 season. It’s still early in the process but it seems Sarkisian and company have zeroed in on their top two targets. Both are not only at positions of need for the Longhorns, but are game-changing playmakers.

Cam Coleman - Auburn WR

This is likely the player in the portal that has received the most interest. Texas is at the top of that group and are working on getting Coleman to Austin for a visit soon. Coleman is heading into his junior season, which some would call a “contract year” for the NFL, coming off a 700-yard, 5 TD season.

Coleman brings remarkable athletic ability, particularly in 50/50 situations to the table. He is likely to be expensive, but he would likely walk in as the WR1 and has a top-10 draft pick ceiling. If Sarkisian can reel Coleman in, the Texas WR core would turn from a relative question mark to one of the best units in the country.

Issac Brown - Louisville RB

Any Longhorn fans worried about the RB position, the answer could be coming soon. Issac Brown is a former Louisville Cardinal and was one of the most electric playmakers in the country. Brown led the nation in yards/carry this season, averaging 8.8 yards per tote. Brown possesses incredible speed and home run ability and plays with elite physicality for his size.

Adding Brown to the RB room would be incredible. He would bring the explosive ability of Jaydon Blue to the backfield, but can be leaned on down-to-down. The Texas run game struggled mightily to create explosives this season. If they can add Brown, that will not be an issue in 2026. He has the potential to be one of, if not the best RB in the country if he’s healthy.

Texas heads into portal season with work ahead of them. The OL needs to be rebuilt on the interior, they need to add starters at LB and S and add special teamers once again. If Cam Coleman and Issac Brown are added to the portal class, I would say you can check off WR1 and RB1 off your portal wish list.
