4 days ago 2

The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus on Friday, and the reactions were immediate. Team owner Jerry Jones waited one day, while the rest of the league saw numerous head coaches axed, he waited until Tuesday to get the spotlight back on the team. It happened pretty early, as word began to circulate around 8 am Central time, giving plenty of runway for fans, media and players to get their reactions together.

Here's a collection of some noteworthy reactions. They span from how players, including defenders on Eberflus' unit responded, to media beginning to share things they kept close to the vest during the season. Of course the fanbase, which has been calling for his ouster since early November, had a bunch of great takes as well.

George Pickens likes the Cowboys' official announcement of Eberflus' firing

Is this a show of support for the move, or for the coach? Pickens played on the opposite side of the ball, meaning he and his compadres were forced to try to do the impossible as Dallas gave up over 500 points on the season. Dak Prescott had two 1,000-yard receivers and a 1,000-yard rusher, and they were outscored by their opponents because the defense wouldn't stop anybody.

Meanwhile, two of Eberflus' flock gave intriguing insights as well.
