The transfer portal is about to open up for college football players, and Penn State wide receiver Kaden Saunders is preparing to step into it.

According to a report from Pete Nakos of On3, Saunders is expected to enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

Saunders came to Penn State in the Class of 2022 as a four-star wide receiver, but he never quite managed to stay on the field in any meaningful role. Saunders did not catch a single pass in each of the past two seasons despite wide receiver being a position in need of production. Penn State went to the transfer portal to add three wide receivers last season, in partdue to the failure of development at the position on the roster.

Saunders got some playing time on special teams as a punt returner, but he returned 17 punts for 113 yards in 2023 and 2024 before being phased out on special teams. Saunders missed the entire 2025 season due to a long-term injury.

Saunders will be joining a handful of Penn State players in the transfer portal amid a transition for the program. Among the more recent names to enter the transfer portal is freshman quarterback Bekkem Kritza.
