With the final week of the transfer window being open for Penn State's roster, a couple of running backs have had different changes of heart this weekend. In one case, a running back who entered the transfer portal has decided he will stay at Penn State, while another has hopped into the transfer portal.
Cam Wallace, who entered the transfer portal at the beginning of the calendar year, has announced he will be ready to run it back with the Nittany Lions in 2026. Wallace confirmed his decision to remain at Penn State on his Instagram account on Saturday.

The redshirt junior has had limited experience on the field playing behind Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen the past couple of seasons, but he hopes to contribute for the Penn State running game in 2026 as the roster is completely overhauled with transfer portal additions.
But with Wallace announcing his return to Penn State, Tikey Hayes has reportedly had a change of heart about his previous decision to stay at Penn State. Hayes is now entering the transfer portal. He shared his announcement to enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal database with a post on his social media account.
A former four-star running back in the Class of 2025, Hayes will have four years of eligibility at his disposal. Hayes had announced his return to Penn State just days ago.
Penn State will obviously have a new look at the running back position in 2026. With Singleton and Allen both moving on to the NFL and with a flurry of transfer portal activity, Penn State will look to keep things chugging along wiht a re-worked running back stable. In addition to bringing back Wallace, Penn State is also set to bring back Quinton Martin, who played well in the Pinstripe Bowl. Penn State is also adding Iowa State's leading rusher, Carson Hansen, and former Ohio State running back James Peoples to the roster from the transfer portal. Penn State also added a local running back to its Class of 2026 with D'Antae Sheffey.
