New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs addressed the media for the first time since the criminal charges against him, including assault, came to light on Tuesday.
When speaking with media members on Friday, Diggs apologized for not being able to address media members earlier in the week, but he explained that he isn't permitted to talk about the ongoing legal case against him at this time.

"Sorry, I usually get to talk to ya'll on Wednesday, but obviously, it's a different time, a very emotional time," said Diggs. "I'm taken aback by some things that's been going on. But I wanna be here to say, sorry I wasn't available for those couple of days. It's just a different kind of time.
"Dealing with everything, it's definitely an open case, so I can't even say anything about it. I will be open to any football questions, anything you wanna know. I don't wanna be rude or disrupting in any way, so if anybody asks me a question that's pertaining to it, then I'm obviously just gonna give you a look. Ya'll kind of know me at this point."
Diggs is currently facing multiple charges, including "felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges," as reported by Boston 25 News. The victim involved was allegedly working as a private chef for the four-time Pro Bowl wideout.

Per court documents, the alleged incident occurred on December 2, which was one day after the Patriots' Monday Night Football game victory over the New York Giants. According to a statement released by the Patriots, Diggs "categorically denies the allegations."
Diggs is set to be arraigned on Friday, January 23.
