Patrick Mahomes has fans reading between the lines after sharing a pair of cryptic photos following a devastating end to his season.
On Monday, January 5, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, 30, posted two images to his Instagram profile. One showed him walking off the field with his head down while the other featured him midair during a past touchdown celebration.

He captioned it with a single clock emoji which quickly prompted fans to flood the comments section.
The post came weeks after Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and LCL during a December 14 game, an injury that sidelined him and cut the Chiefs’ postseason run short. While the Super Bowl champ has stayed relatively quiet since undergoing surgery in Dallas, the post was enough to send fans into overdrive. Most seemed to think the dad of three was gearing up for a comeback next season.
“Biggest comeback of all-time, book it!” one fan wrote.

Another added, “God speed brother. I know you will come back stronger and better though the journey is challenging and frustrating. Will all be part of your incredible legacy!”

His wife, Brittany Mahomes, added three heart emojis, offering a subtle show of support as he begins a long road to recovery.
Mahomes is now rehabbing in Kansas City, with doctors estimating a recovery timeline of roughly nine months. That could put the quarterback on track to return for the start of the 2026 NFL season, though no official return date has been announced.
